We all know it, there are certain people we follow or are friends with on social media that never seem to pause from filling up our timelines. We are sure to find them every time we go there. In that spirit, I’ve been thinking about the use of social media and where people just take it overboard.

Here are my top 10 everyday examples of those who use social media in ways I just don’t seem to understand.

  1. You’re out for dinner and before you can even attempt to taste any of the delectable dishes on your table, first must come an Instagram picture. Or maybe ten, whilst trying to find the perfect shot.
  2. Before travelling anywhere, there is always an infamous check in on Facebook. As if not informing us which lounge they are in or where they are going would pose a threat to national security.
  3. Complainers who always have a negative comment to post on a positive story you want to share. They always find a way to criticize.
  4. Those who think it is necessary to update their profile picture everyday with an appropriate frame representing the season, championship win, location, or anything else that is happening right now.
  5. Those who constantly post spiritual posts everyday while pretending they have reached Buddha-like bliss when in reality their ego is still very much alive and kicking.
  6. Those who post everyday selfies of what they are wearing when they aren’t exactly an influencer and their picture isn’t even straight.
  7. Random people who add you on LinkedIn who don’t even bother to write a small note introducing themselves or why they want to connect — awesome networking skills right there.
  8. People who are friends with your friends (that you have never met) and think that adding you on Facebook is acceptable because it’s all one big happy family?
  9. People who tell you to retweet or share their post. I can see the buttons thank you very much, if I want to, I will.
  10. Those who post 20+ stories a day documenting snippets of everything they did, even the presentations they listened to at work. But why?

All I can say is Facebook’s snooze notifications has been super handy off late. Or one can simply unfollow or unfriend. That being said, the most effective way to manage these annoyances about the social media world is to simply limit your time on these apps. We’re all deserving of some digital wellbeing.

Let’s keep in touch.
